Mr Word challenges you to a word game with added personality. Even more so, now that Mr Word talks back.

This update sees the following enhancements:

- Mr Word chats with you during 1 player game play, just like a real human opponent
- Improved dictionary (uses the Oxford English Dictionary if installed)
- High score table, plus keeps track of how many games each player has won
- more consistent AI gameplay

Choose 1 player or 2 player modes, and enter your name to begin.

In 1 player mode, you are playing against Mr Word himself. Featuring Genuine People Personality, Mr Word will really give you a run for your money. Sometimes he will offer encouraging comments, other times he can be a little sarcastic - try not to let him put you off.

Choose a difficulty level, Easy, Medium or Hard, then Mr Word will choose words that a real human would choose (his vocabulary increases in Hard level), and respond to your move in seconds - great for rapid fire play. Now even faster than before.

If you make Mr Word think for longer than a few seconds, you are doing really well!

Mr Word will even "spellcheck" your words as you lay them, so you know in advance whether the word you are playing is acceptable. New option: turn off spellcheck for more challenging word play.

In 2 player mode, your iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch becomes a high quality table top board game. Both users can examine and manipulate their letters simultaneously, and the board rotates to face you when its your turn.

Mr Word is minimalist and highly playable so you can rediscover the joy of word games.

Also featuring the Define button - instantly brings up word definitions for all words played. High quality, Apple-supplied dictionary of over 100,000 words. Features definitions from the Oxford English Dictionary so you can learn new words and their meanings every time you play.

Mr Word now offers Premium Subscription. Once subscribed, all advertising is removed from the app, allowing you to enjoy the classic word game with zero distractions.

Pros and cons of Mr Word app for iPhone and iPad

Mr Word app good for

This is a good game . I play most days . Some words that I know are not allowed . It is a great advantage being able to see Mr Words letters .

With the dictionary the game is now perfect to improve your English.

I like that there is a game that matches the players skill level. As with anything new, there are glitches that need ironing out. I have found that the app is able to use proper nouns. I hope this app remains available - it is worthwhile.

I would just like the computers word to be hi lighted for a moment Play is fast and I cant tell what she played The voice is lots of fun

Excellent word game,better than scrabble lots of extras good job .thanks for the fun.

There is a very reasonable amount of ads in this app. Adding these two simple things would make gameplay much faster and easier, and make it more worthwhile to play on a digital device that is capable of doing these.

Some bad moments

I can not tell you the number of times that I have been cheated out of points and Mr. Word has given himself more points than his game has earned. Triple word scores are scored as single points. My points are picked up again by Mr. Word etc. etc. I keep playing and it keeps happening. I cant believe that you think this goes unnoticed. What dictionary are you using for spellcheck and definition? I would appreciate your immediate attention to this matter.

Mr. Word wont accept a lot of words that are in the dictionary. But will accept proper names. Not like scrabble at all. Scrabble is much better. I find it frustrating especially when I had a seven letter word and I knew it was in the dictionary and it wouldnt accept it.

I am not thrilled with Mr Word. First of all, my IPad has to be vertical. Second, I cant test my words to see the score. I would rather play Scrabble AI. At least I get to win once in a while.

This app uses weird words from other languages such as French and possibly Spanish, also names yet it disallows authentic English words. No fun to be whipped by its logic of forming unheard of two letter words between every available space and getting nixed for creating good ones. Seems like the rules only work for the cheater game.

The computer cheats! When you are down to the last few letters it will not take a word that is available so that you cannot get more points and maybe win the game. He also makes words but does not have those letters, I wrote all his stuff down a few games and he cheats, please fix

I think theres too many dodgy words being used such as slang & proper nouns. Thats not acceptable. Also too many 2-letter words are used.
